In Touch Acupuncture

by Laura Marcove

30 East 60th Street is an undisclosed building on a busy, typical New York City street. Blocks away from Barneys and Central Park, the façade would never make you think relaxation. Yet once inside, one may be surprised to find hidden spas, tanning salons, and more running rampant throughout the many levels. Waxing, herbal healing, and a body scrub can be done up and down the many floors. But the real gem is InTouch Acupuncture with Jordanna Dworkin inside the Glow offices in Suite 808.

From losing weight to curing aches and pains, acupuncture is used to promote natural healing and improve the body’s function and balance. Jordanna Dworkin is the owner and sole practitioner of the salon. She has directed several workshops across the world, and was recently seen on ABCWorldWide promoting the benefits of acupuncture and Chinese herbal therapy. She uses acupuncture, Chinese herbs, moxibustion, cupping, and more to treat a wide-range of ailments. Jordanna treats her clients on an individual basis, creating an hour’s worth of treatment uniquely designed for one’s own body and type.

Upon the first session, Jordanna will assess the individual body type and lifestyle. Each acupuncture visit and experience is distinctive, from person to person and session to session.

The main goal in acupuncture is to harmonize both the body and mind. Acupuncture uses sterilized needles as fine as a human hair. The treatment consists of guiding these needles through specific points on the body, everywhere from the ears to the toes. While those of us reared in the Western World may be weary of needles from years of booster shots, the treatment is relatively painless. It is simply an effort of putting one’s mind at ease. In fact, after treatment, it is common to feel as through one just had a deep tissue massage or a warm bath.

The use of Chinese medicine dates back over 2,000 years, and even those without any physical ailment benefit from the procedure. The ultimate goal is relaxation, with the added benefit of releasing sluggish and inert energy. Whether suffering from a smoking addiction, depression, allergies or migraines, the InTouch salon finds a way to treat the problem naturally.

While the first treatment will be as relaxing as a massage, expect multiple trips to treat any serious ailment. However, along the journey down the Eastern path, you will feel balanced like a pilates class, relaxed as after a massage, and centered like after a Vinyasa Flow sequence. One may choose from a variety of treatments, from a Season Tune-Up to a Yin & Yang Body Bliss. The initial visit plus consultation costs $125, and each additional visit is $100. Visit Jordana at InTouch Acupuncture ... appointments are Tuesdays from 2pm-8pm and Thursday from 9am-3pm.
