Elgot Kitchens is a Manhattan-based remodeling firm that handles projects throughout the entire apartment. Their goal is to create a kitchen that meets the needs of the cook. They offer custom and semi-custom cabinetry, major appliances, and countertops from a range of mid to high-end materials, plumbing fixtures, etc. Elgot's designers pride themselves on being a total design solution.
They are at your service to meet all of the customers design, remodeling and installation needs. Elgot has trained their design team to meet the challenging needs of creating and redesigning spaces in Manhattan. In business for over 60 years, this family-owned and operated business is the crown jewel of design on the Upper East Side.
UpperEast.com sat down with Ellen Elias to chat about Elgot Kitchens and their long history of providing excellent design to Manhattanites. Ellen and her brother, Andy, have run the family business since their father retired in the late 1980's.
Tell everyone a bit about what Elgot does?
We have been a family run business for over 60 years. We sell and install major appliances, window and thru wall air conditioners, and we design, sell and install complete kitchens and bathrooms. We are one stop shopping for your kitchen and bathroom design and installations. We also do custom cabinetry work, flooring and lighting.
Why use Elgot instead of someone else?
We are very service oriented. We make sure our clients are buying what is right for their apartments and homes. Will it fit? Can it be installed? These are all questions Elgot makes sure are answered when you are shopping to remodel your kitchen and bath. We care about what we do, most of our employees have been with us for a number of years so you won't talk to a sales person one day and find them gone the next. We pride ourselves on being a fixture in the neighborhood.
Does Elgot have a specific specialty?
Kitchen and bath. Designing and installing Manhattan kitchens and baths. We do all sorts of custom fittings. We know that Manhattan can be tough, so we make sure that everything is measured properly and that what we sell you is going to fit.
Is there a favorite design you have done for someone?
We want happy, satisfied customers. Those are my favorites, people that call or email and say how happy they are with their kitchen or bath. A satisfied customer makes everything worthwhile, someone that will come back again and recommend Elgot.
What's something the passerby on the street might not know about Elgot?
We have three designers on staff, who help with all the design needs and six sales people that deal with appliances and air conditioning. We're fully licensed and insured. There are no surprises with us. We can help home owners deal with their co-op and condo boards as far as providing documentation to get approval for remodeling. We remove all the home owners' old appliances and fixtures, we discard all old materials.
What is the best part of your job?
It is challenging but I like service and interaction. I like seeing the interaction between sales people and the customers. Doing business in Manhattan is challenging and it's wonderful to have satisfied customers.
