J. Pocker and Son

by Uppereast.com Staff

J Pocker & Son Upper East Side New York, NYJ. Pocker and Son has been servicing New York City since 1926. Their long history in New York has established J. Pocker and Son as a full service resource for decorative prints and framing.

The most unique aspect of J. Pocker and Son is their wide range of unusual print subjects.

They house a stock of subjects from botanicals, natural history, architectural design, maps, and seashells.

J. Pocker also offers a multitude of framing selections and takes pride in being able to conceptualize, frame and hang anything.

From prints to original art, mirrors, tapestries, diplomas and invites. Nothing is too tough of a project.

Pocker representatives have traveled the world looking for art to bring back to the States and sell in their stores. Several of their vendors are the same people that the founders of the company discovered in the 1950’s in Italy.

It is that sense of loyalty that makes J. Pocker and Son stand out from the crowd.

“We are all about service,” comments President of J. Pocker and Son, Robyn Pocker. “We want people to have a good shopping experience. We have a lot of third generation clientele.

We frame everything in our 10,000 square foot framing factory, it is all done ourselves. This is still a family owned business, we thrive on consistency.”

Jacob Pocker started the family business in 1926. Today, J. Pocker and Son is run by Jacob’s grandchildren, Robyn and Richard Pocker.

In addition to their vast selection of frames and prints ranging from Italianate to Asian, they are also offering unique maps circa the mid-1800’s.

These maps were conceived by British Engineer, William Perris, after a fire destroyed parts of New York in 1835. Perris created these maps to assist insurance companies with detailed property maps. The first book of Perris’ maps was published in 1853 and are now available for purchase and framing.

The maps are mainly first edition and are published in their original size, 29 x 21 inches on German etching conservatory approved rag paper. The Perris maps are fascinating history footnotes, showing block-by-block what once stood in the area one now lives in.

No matter what your decorative needs are, J. Pocker and Son is there to help you bring your vision to fruition, “Come in and visit with us,” urges Pocker. “We want to show people what service is about. Bring in your fabric, sit down with us and we will work with you. We have a motto here, custom framing, custom service. It is all about relationships with the customer. Are you getting good advice? Are you being treated importantly? We want everyone to have a good shopping experience.”

Don’t let the Park Avenue address sway you from visiting J. Pocker and Son. Their prices are competitive, and whether you have $800 or $8,000, their friendly and courteous staff is there to assist you in making the appropriate decisions within your budget.

J. Pocker and Son flagship store is located at 135 East 63rd Street at Park Avenue. Their to-the-trade showroom can be found at 979 Third Avenue in the D&D Building. They have four additional locations: New York City, Bronxville, Greenwich, CT and Westport, CT.

The secret to their long illustrious success in New York is simple, “Through our superb product knowledge, customer service and attention to detail, we continue Jacob's legacy and reputation of being dedicated to our craft.” Robyn Pocker states, “Our clients are more than just clients, they are family.”
