Mx Co Should Do Just Fine

Overall:

 - MXco is a new Mexican restaurant on the Upper East Side, opened by the same team behind Hell’s Kitchen in Clinton. It is large and friendly, presenting some of the game-day bonhomie of a college-town sports bar. The crowd is largely made up of vaguely jockish neighborhood residents of both sexes, along with young families. Every so often an adventuresome older person wanders in, smiling faintly at all the noise. The music runs to hits of the 1970s and ’80s and more, as at a theme wedding with a cash bar. The food is not quite uninspired. It isn’t dazzling. But there is a decent guacamole ($8) for fresh, warm tortilla chips, plainer than many and welcome for that: it tastes of avocado and lime. Nachos and quesadillas are of a piece ($10 to $15). They are of no particular virtue beyond being fresh. MX Co
