- Cafe Sabarsky, a Viennese-inspired cafe with an old-world European aura, is nestled inside the Neue Galerie. Amidst wood-panels, marble-topped tables, and a single crystal chandelier, servers in black vests and ties present traditional savory dishes and treats hearkening back to old-world Europe, such as goulash and sachertorte. The servers do not rush patrons, allowing one to linger over a well-executed cappuccino. On the downside, the desserts are handsomely priced but not handsomely proportioned. A single dessert with coffee and tip runs around $17. Still, for the pleasure of such a rare atmosphere and genteel service, an occasional visit here is worth every penny. Keep in mind that the cafe is closed on Tuesdays.
