"Less medicine is often the best medicine."

Tribeca Pediatrics opened its doors in 1994, when Dr. Michel Cohen moved his practice and young family to Tribeca. Since then, Dr. Cohen's accessibility and low-intervention approach to comprehensive medical care for babies and children has flourished and grown.

Today, with offices in Tribeca, Boerum Hill, Williamsburg, Park Slope, Chelsea, and now, the Upper East Side, Dr. Cohen and his staff remain dedicated to giving your children an unparalleled level of personalized care, with the same low-intervention philosophy.

"Less medicine is often the best medicine."

Our goal has always been to offer the best medical care while avoiding unnecessary intervention. To quote from Dr. Cohen’s book: "We are entering a new era in health care. Patients and doctors are realizing that we need not medicate all ills. Not every fever should be reduced, if it helps fight a virus. Not every cough should be suppressed, if it clears the airway. Not every bacterial infection should be attacked with powerful antibiotics, if the body stands a good chance of fighting off the infection and thus strengthening its own immunity."

This new thinking makes even more sense in regard to children, to whom nature is very gentle. Most childhood illnesses are simple and self-resolving. We should be vigilant to monitor symptoms, but we also must respect the body’s natural defenses and avoid unnecessary, possibly detrimental interventions.

Our approach is a hybrid of the old-fashioned and the modern. We call it the New Basics. The well-rested parents and well-fed toddlers we see attest to our success with sleep and food issues. The growth of our practice shows how well parents and kids have responded to our approach.

Originally from New Jersey, she currently lives on the Upper East Side and practices in our office there.

Our Hospital Affiliation

About a year ago, Tribeca Pediatrics was invited to affiliate with the prestigious New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center.

Now that all our doctors are credentialed, we are thrilled that we can provide our little patients with state-of-the-art pediatric services. The Komansky Center for Children’s Health, a full-service “children’s hospital within a hospital” is staffed with the nation’s top pediatric doctors and specialists. The ER is staffed with pediatric emergency medicine physicians 24/7.

Located on 68th Street right off the FDR Drive on the Upper East Side, the hospital is accessible to families in both Manhattan and Brooklyn.

We have been very impressed by the staff, the facility, and the quality of care. We hope you’ll never need it, but if you do, you can feel safe knowing that your child is in one of the nation’s best hospitals.
