The Upper East Side is teeming with kids from tots to teens, so of course a plethora of children’s boutiques in the area can’t be far behind. These specialty shops offer an array of unique merchandise that aims to please both parent and child. This is the first in a series of UES children's boutique profiles from Uppereast.com.
A Children's Clothing Favorite
 | It’s a children’s clothing and accessories paradise at Tutti Bambini. The dressing rooms are chock full of kids and parents, in and out, trying on the latest fashions, especially now that it is almost that time of year, back to school.The store offers boys and girls, infant to twelve years old everything from clothes, stuffed animals in different shapes and sizes to sleepwear. Not to forget, of course the latest “in” jewelry for girls, ranging from fashionable watches, bracelets to necklaces with an array of charms. |
Owner Christina Connelly, along with partner Maria Velissaris, aims to offer customers personalized service. “I believe that our focus on individual customers is what sets us apart from other children’s stores,” she says. “We help our customers put together outfits for their children, for example if they are unsure what or how to decide to choose something.” Connelly says that she and her salespeople also help customers over the phone, and ship out of state as well via UPS. “We get our fair share of Upper East Siders in the store but we also have people come in from all over the city.”
The store offers infant to size 14, its specialty being infant to size 8. Tutti Bambini carries lots of casual, everyday clothes with some formal attire peppered in among the racks.
Some of the clothing lines the store carries are Lili Gaufrette, Il Gufo, Splendid and Charlie Rocket. Tutti Bambini also has a play space for children to watch videos (such as Elmo and Barney) while their moms peruse the store.
The store was the brainchild of Christina and Maria, who attended college together. “We bought out a woman in 1990 who had an apparel store in the middle of this block, which was our previous location,” says Connelly.
Tutti Bambini has been in its present location for five years, and continues to be an Upper East Side mainstay among parents and the young set.
Store hours are Monday-Friday, 10am – 7pm, Saturday 10am – 6pm, Sunday 12pm – 5pm
