Competition ... Camaraderie ... Community

Our programs operate each weekend, and on various days during the week, for boys and girls in grades Pre-K through 12. We have over 2,500 children participating in various sports, arts activities, and after school programs throughout the city. We exist to serve the children and families of New York City through quality programs that promote community and friendship.

If you are looking for a fun and positive competitive sports experience for your child then the Yorkville Youth Athletic Association has what you need. We offer baseball, basketball, soccer, street hockey, lacrosse, flag-football, and tackle football. For information on all of these programs please read below; and if you would like to register please click on our Applications page.

BASKETBALL (Fall, Winter, & Spring)

Our basketball program has Fall and Winter sessions with over 1,500 participants. Our teams are competitive and our coaches are passionate and skilled. We have an open gym on Sundays for everyone to practice in at P.S. 198 which is provided at no additional cost to all our participants. Additionally, Yorkville is one of the few organizations in the area that has five all-girl divisions. We also support our community by supporting the schools we are utilize with new scoreboards, protective gym mats, better lighting, repaired gym floors, and general upkeep of the schools.

FLAG FOOTBALL (Fall, Winter, & Spring)

The Yorkville Flag-Football program has over 800 participants in our fall, winter and spring sessions. We follow the official NFL Flag Football rules, and the NFL provides us with uniforms and equipment. Our participants also compete in the NFL Regional Tournament each Fall.

Yorkville Travel Programs were created to offer talented and motivated players a chance to play against other competitive teams. Players have opportunities to improve their individual skills and learn team strategy with an emphasis on the dedication and perseverance needed to play competitive sports.

Although the goal of each outing is to win games, the focus is on learning how to win as a team. Practices play an especially important role in all of these programs, since it is during those times that a great deal of work toward achieving individual and team goals gets accomplished. With the help of professional coaches and volunteer parent coaches, we hope to provide an intensive learning experience that will be both challenging and fun.

Travel Baseball (Year Round)

Yorkville Youth Athletic Association is dedicated to providing an environment in which children and adults have fun with baseball. We want to instill in our players an appreciation and enjoyment of the game, by teaching them the complexities of baseball in an atmosphere that promotes teamwork and good sportsmanship.

The Yorkville Eagles participate in spring and fall travel baseball. From ages 8 through 14, Yorkville teams play league and tournament baseball throughout the tri-state area.

Travel Basketball (Year Round)

Yorkville Travel and Tournament Basketball offers talented and motivated basketball players a chance to play against other competitive teams. This exciting program offers players the opportunity to improve their individual skills while learning how to participate in a "team first" environment.

Yorkville Travel and Tournament Basketball is committed to teamwork, performance, competition, good sportsmanship and the emotional growth of our players.

Travel Tackle Football (Fall)

Football is played nationwide and finally in our own backyard. The Yorkville Eagles are affiliated with the New York City Youth Football League (www.NYCYFL.com).

Safety is our number one priority and all games are officiated by high school certified referees. The Eagles are divided into four divisions. Each division will have a maximum of 30 players and will be coached by professionals. Tackle football is demanding and we expect exemplary attendance and cooperation from both players and parents.

Yorkville instructors are available for private and semi-private lessons. If your son or daughter is interested in an opportunity to learn from some of the best instructors New York City has to offer, we strongly urge that you take advantage of their knowledge.

BASEBALL (Fall & Spring)

Our baseball program, the largest in Manhattan, has over 2,000 participants in the Fall and Spring seasons. It is second to none in our area for competition and sportsmanship. Our goals are to teach baseball in a fun filled atmosphere concluding with competitive games.

We promote healthy lifestyle choices, offer sports and fitness instruction, and encourage positive youth development.

CHESS (Fall)

Through a partnership with New York City Chess Inc., this Yorkville program makes the game of chess fun for all levels of play. Chess is an excellent addition to athletics and education as it helps stimulate the mind and improve areas such as critical thinking, analytical abilities, and concentration.

DAY CAMPS (Summer)

Yorkville offers baseball day camp for several weeks in June and August, and evening basketball camp from mid-July through Labor Day.

Our sports leagues are made possible through the generous donation of time from our wonderful volunteer coaches. Volunteer coaches are parents and family members of our participants as well as concerned community members. If you are interested in coaching please click on the Coaching link on our Applications page.

Teenagers in Yorkville also have the opportunity to give back to their community by participating in refereeing and umpiring games for our younger players. Interested teenagers attend clinics and workshops to prepare them to officiate at basketball, baseball and flag-football games. There are also opportunities for teenagers to do this work as community service or participate in our theatre internships.
